ON PURPOSE by Ebony Payne-English, directed by JaMario Stills at WJCT (April 2017, June 2019)
In our company's inaugural production, spoken word artist Ebony Payne-English explores love, life, and poetry amidst the aftermath of HIV diagnoses. Told through monologue, song, and rhyme, this coming of age story offers a raw and thought provoking view on fear, honesty, and success. Through the diverse perspective and vernacular of nine women, On Purpose paints a vivid picture of femininity at the peak of its strength and the pit of its vulnerability.
